A short list of common beliefs that I believe are harmful to our living fulfilling and ever-evolving lives with each other, which I would like to be debunked in my lifetime:
- Vulnerability is weakness.
- Talent is something you’re born with.
- Success requires hard work.
- You shouldn’t express your feelings.
- Only do it if it ‘feels good’.
- People are inherently selfish.
- Only results matter.
- I’m not enough, or I don’t have enough.
- It’s not my fault.
- Sex is shameful.
- Love must be earned.
- Relationships are supposed to be hard.
- The purpose of business is to make money.
I feel charged even as I write this. I want to assert to the world that every single one of these beliefs is either blindly reactive, woefully incomplete, or flat-out wrong.
